RecycleSmart Accessible Recycling

At RecycleSmart, we strive to simplify and make recycling accessible to everyone. We assist households and businesses in taking small, intelligent steps towards a sustainable future, ensuring that valuable resources remain in circulation.

Our Vision

Our goal is to expedite Australia’s shift towards a circular economy. Our aim is to cultivate a vibrant and involved community that embraces sustainable practices. To accomplish this, we leverage technology, robust data, transparent partnerships, and encourage active participation, making recycling effortless and reliable. Our Collaborators

Once your items are collected, they are transported to our recycling collaborators, either directly or through our consolidation points.

Our collaborators include:

  • Soft plastics: APR Plastics. Learn more about their process here.
  • Clothes: Australian Red Cross and Upcycle4Better, among others.
  • E-Waste: Arnies Recon, Mobile Muster, and more.
  • Misfits: Nespresso, Sell & Parker, Styrocycle, and others.

We are continuously evolving and seeking the most sustainable outcomes for the recyclables we collect.

Our Team

RecycleSmart was established in September 2019 by co-founders Marco Prayer and Giorgio Baracchi. Since then, our team has grown into a close-knit group of ten individuals who are passionate about recycling (yes!) and accompanied by an amazing team of drivers. We are a diverse collective with varied backgrounds, residing along the coastline spanning from Melbourne to Byron Bay.

Our friendly drivers are locally contracted: they possess even more passion and are trained to sort, weigh, and evaluate the breakdown of all collected items, providing reports before delivering them to our partners.

We are Carbon Neutral

Carbon neutrality is achieved by offsetting carbon emissions through investment in projects that reduce emissions elsewhere.

TRACE has assisted us in calculating the emissions from our day-to-day operations and collaborating with us to offset our carbon footprint through a program focused on planting trees in Australia and worldwide.

We recognize that recycling alone is not the ultimate solution. We firmly believe that addressing the waste issue requires a multifaceted approach. Through our online platform, we encourage residents to reduce and reuse before resorting to recycling.
