Environmentally Focused

Brookfarm is dedicated to being an environmentally friendly and sustainable company. We revitalized our rainforest by planting over 45,000 new trees and employed regenerative agriculture in our macadamia orchard. The farm has become a sanctuary for local wildlife. Our Byron Bay bakehouse and office is powered by the sun with 288 solar panels, aiding in the reduction of our carbon footprint.

A Solution to Recycle the Packaging

Brookfarm is one of Australia’s leading producers of macadamia products and premium health foods. The company has a strong commitment to sustainability and an entire range of non-GMO real food products, all made with natural ingredients.

Sustainability permeates everything we do at Brookfarm, and it begins on our farm, from regenerative macadamia farming to integrated pest management, to rainforest regeneration. Sustainability extends to the muesli side of the business where we recently received two awards for our innovation in creating a solution to recycle the packaging for our delectable Toasted Cranberry Muesli. We collaborated with Roll n Recycle and O F Packaging to enable the recycling of our bags through the kerbside bin. This is a world first, and we take great pride in playing a role in advancing the food and recycling industries towards a more sustainable future.

The Family Dream

In 1989, a family dream of moving to the countryside began to materialise. The Brook family purchased what was believed to be a pristine dairy farm, but upon their first visit, they realized it was nothing more than barren land overrun with weeds.

A family dream to relocate to the countryside and a passion for quality healthy food sparked Pam and Martin Brook to transform a dilapidated dairy farm in the Byron Bay hinterland into a functional macadamia farm and regenerate an ancient sub-tropical rainforest.

During this time, the Brooks identified an opportunity to add value to Australia’s indigenous nut – the macadamia. After months of product development in the family kitchen, experimenting with various macadamia-based creations (including mayonnaise and tartare sauce!), Brookfarm’s remarkable Toasted and Natural Macadamia Mueslis were born. In November 2000, Pam and Martin, accompanied by their sons Will and Eddie, sold their very first products at the Bangalow Markets in the Northern Rivers, NSW, Australia.

Now, more than 20 years later, the Brookfarm range has expanded significantly, and our products are sold worldwide. Despite this growth, certain aspects remain unchanged – we never compromise on quality, we always craft real food using genuine ingredients, and above all, we ensure it tastes sensational!

Restoring the Environment

Our family farm is situated in the beautiful hinterland overlooking Byron Bay. In 1988, when the property was acquired, it was nothing but barren land overrun with weeds. Now, the transformation is remarkable, and we take pride in serving as an exemplar of regenerative farming globally.

Not only have we planted over 4,000 macadamia trees, but we have also regenerated an ancient rainforest, planting over 35,000 rainforest and eucalypt trees, creating a sanctuary for indigenous wildlife. Our rainforest serves as a vital lifeline throughout our farm, acting as a corridor for the Big Scrub, which was once Australia’s largest sub-tropical rainforest. Hosting native insects and bees, platypus, owls, koalas, turtles, water dragons, snakes, and birds, our farm operates as a fully integrated system that maintains a natural balance.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our bakehouse, which relies on 288 solar panels for power. It is evident in the design of our building, our suppliers, our processes, and even in the way we clean the floors. We are determined to preserve and safeguard our natural environment through conscientious and effective business practices. From waste reduction to minimizing our carbon footprint, we are doing everything within our power to protect our exquisite planet.

Our Community

At Brookfarm, we are deeply passionate about giving back to and supporting our community, providing nourishment and raising funds for those in need.
